Raagi vadai

This a very healthy snack / teatime item made in households. 

Here's the list of items needed:


  1. Ragi (Millet) flour - 1 cup
  2. finely chopped cabbage - 1/2 cup 
  3. Green Chilies - 8-10 (reduce or increase based on the level of spiciness you like)
  4. Ginger - 1/2 piece (one tsp after chopping)
  5. Peanut & Roasted gram flour - 1 tbsp
  6. fennel seeds & Cumin - 1 tsp
  7. Hing or asaefotida - a pinch
  8. Salt to taste
  9. Finely chopped curry leaves - 8-10 leaflets
  10. ghee - 1/2 tsp.
  11. Red Chili powder (optional ) 1/2 tsp
  12. Oil to fry


Grind roasted gram / peanut into a fine powder.
Chop ginger/ green chilies / curry leaves.






Mix everything with millet flour , add water an make a thick paste.





heat oil in a pan.
Now add the flour to oil and fry.

This comes out very crispy.

If you have rasam throw some of these vadas into rasam.

Enjoy the delicacy with coffee or tea or orange juice or butter milk or any drink of your choice.




Note: Optionally Garlic / Onions could be added if you like to.
Note: Optionally Whole roasted gram (pottu kadalai) could be added to the flour.
